In December 2019, DAVU Studio creative directed and styled this editorial, which was shot on film. Published in Picton Magazine (Issue 376), in an issue that celebrated Black bodies, the entire photoshoot was based on vintage and secondhand fashion.
The concept behind this shoot was to showcase how secondhand, thrifted and vintage clothing are not just sustainable for the environment or an affordable choice to many, rather that they should be taken seriously as a major contributor to the fashion industry, which has become saturated with “fast fashion” and mass production in countries that pay no mind to the unethical labour standards – be it people’s safety and/or payment.
