  • In December 2019, DAVU Studio creative directed and styled this editorial, which was shot on film. Published in Picton Magazine (Issue 376), in an issue that celebrated Black bodies, the entire photoshoot was based on vintage and secondhand fashion.

The concept behind this shoot was to showcase how secondhand, thrifted and vintage clothing are not just sustainable for the environment or an affordable choice to many, rather that they should be taken seriously as a major contributor to the fashion industry, which has become saturated with “fast fashion” and mass production in countries that pay no mind to the unethical labour standards – be it people’s safety and/or payment.

  • This editorial was inspired by the headpiece, designed by DAVU Studio’s creative director Hadeel Osman, who was exploring the use of raw, everyday materials to make eccentric accessories. In this case, the headpiece was made using a traditional Kenyan broom and twine string.

We are proud to announce that the above photo was selected by PhotoVogue, Vogue Italia’s photography platform. A great feat for our team, as we continue to explore new avenues of fashion photography and art direction as a whole.

  • DAVU Studio styled the editorial photoshoot for “The Nafisa Project” by visual artist and fashion designer Sahar Arrayeh, for TAP Magazine [Issue 12, 2019]

The concept was to show the vibrancy of the seldom unknown Sudanese culture, particularly the diverse nature of women, which is clearly stated in the modern jackets celebrating the various features and accessories worn in different regions across the nation.

We are proud to have worked with The Nafisa Project and TAP Magazine on this shoot, as we continue to showcase #MadeInSudan fashion brands to Africa and the world.

  • In April 2019, DAVU Studio was published for the very first time showcasing a #MadeInSudan brand. We creative directed this photoshoot, which was in SHUBA Magazine (Issue 23, Vol 3).

The concept behind the photoshoot was to showcase the aesthetic of a Sudanese male, who values traditions while fully embracing modernity, individuality and most of all, his unique African identity.
